Guess who is 6 months old today?

Me!

Photo shoot coming soon.  I was just so excited by my big day, I needed to tell the world!

Lots of love,

Amelia want food (hehe)

For some weeks now, I have not been content to lie on the floor, rest in my bouncy seat, or play on my activity mat while the rest of the family eats its meals.  I wanted to sit on someone's lap during the meal and to participate in the lively discussions (usually about cars, trains, or twinkling stars when Phin is talking).  And dang it, I wanted to taste the flavors of the foods they are consuming (even if every meal contains peanut butter in some form)!

Finally, the wait was over - last weekend, I got to sit in my own chair and sample to delicacies my family has been enjoying for years!  Oh the excitement.  Oh the joy.  Oh steamed carrots, you are sweeter than milk, squishier than a stuffed animal, and more soothing than a pacifier.  Where have you been all of my life!?
Here I am enjoying Cucumbers, a pear slice, and some sweet potato - I'm still little compared to the seat (plenty of room to grow)

Carrots are a great start (and I promise to happily eat you again), but they were just a start.  Once I savored the awesomeness of solid foods, there was no turning back.  I have had the pleasure of enjoying hot house cucumbers, steamed yellow bell pepper, succulent pears (although not the kind grown in grandpa's backyard - those are out of season), avocado that mushed in my mouth, banana's so yummy that they cried out for continued consumption, and the sweetest sweet potatoes ever roasted.

With such yumminess, the only time I stop eating is when I get tired of sitting in a chair or have had my fill.  And for those wondering, my motor skills are greatly developing - I do get food in my mouth and I do swallow some.  The proof is in the poop.

Anyway, you can check out pictures from my first few days of eating here and a video of my avocado experience here.

Lots of Love,
Amelia

P.S. - you can also check Phin's first time eating carrots and cucumbers.  He was such a chub-ster and was way bigger in the high chair.
