Celebrating the 1 Year Birthday of Our SUV with the DC Auto Show

1 year ago today, we bought our (still new) Nissan Pathfinder and traded in our old Volkswagen.  To celebrate we drove our car downtown, parked it, and went to the Auto Show.  It is funny that we celebrated by leaving our car behind, sitting in other cars/trucks, and admiring new cars.  But in the end, the Auto Show confirmed that we definitely made the right purchase and are happier than ever with our Pathfinder (which I refused to let Mom and Dad name).

Below are some of the highlights from the 2015 auto show; you can check out the entire album of me sitting in different cars here (yes, there is an album dedicated to me sitting in different cars - so cool).  You can also check out photos from last year's auto show.

Driving a small truck - the first truck of the show.

Standing in the bed Uncle Wes' truck - it has camo all over it!

I saw Daniel Tiger from Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood!!!  So great.  His Dad was on Mr Roger's Neighborhood.

Look what I found on an old card!

Over the weekend, Dad was cleaning and doing some packing (in prep for moving to Portland) when he came across an old SD card.  The card, from an old cell phone of Dad's, featured a great collection of photos from before Amelia and I were born (a tricky concept, I know).  Here are our favorites:
Ernie and Mom going for a drive!

Straight Hair!  Whoa mom!

Mom's #1 - she completed her 3 day, 60 mile Komen walk (without a complaint, but with a nice tan)

Scary Dad photo.  What's with that terrible 1800's banker's shave?

The Chops, worn by many Presidents and Dad.

Dad says this photo is one of his all-time favorites of Mom.  I see why - she had curly hair
Hope you enjoyed these old photos.  I'll post some more when we find some more.

Peace Out,
Phin

Spontaneous Name Writing

I'm generally a shy person when it comes to people talking about me.  I get nervous and shriek when people think I stole the cookie from the cookie jar (when singing the song).  I get bashful and sometimes gently hit when people talk about me too much.  And I have always hated the praise that comes when I write my name.  I know you're surprised to hear this news, since I am generally so happy, loving, and great.  But it is true.

In fact about, 1.5 years ago I signed a card to Papa with my name (PHIN, in case you were unsure).  Mom and Dad were so excited and surprised by my writing and heaped so much praise on me that I decided to stop writing my name (even though I could do it easily).

Well, today during some quiet art time I decided my scriptive protest should end.  So, I spontaneously wrote my name several times.  Here are the results, drawn on an 11"x17" sheet of paper.

Have a great rest of your week.

Happy 2015 Everyone!

I love New Years.  I get to see friends, stay up late, and no one minds if I'm a little silly.  This New Years party was a little different.  We went over to our friend Jethro's - he's a big Hound dog - (and his owners Andrew & Julie) and spent the night (even MeMoo does not hate Jethro - although she does usually scream when he gets near).

All was going well... I got to use a mini spoon to mix some flour.  I got covered in flour.  I could eat all of the tortilla chips I wanted.  I got to hang with all of the adults and Jethro (Amelia went to bed early).  What a party.  Eventually, I got tired and went to bed - only to be awoken at 11:30pm when Dad set off the smoke alarms repeatedly.  Mom tucked us back in, only for us to be woken back when there was a lot of screaming at Midnight.  Come-on people, I know it's new years, but did you have to wake the kids.

Since everyone was up, we decided to go home.  I guess Amelia partied to hard at Jethro's - she got sick all over the car.  Rough start for 2015 - but Dad says that it can only get better.

After recovering from our New Years party, Amelia and I put together a video looking back at how we've changed in 2014.  We assembled our favorite photos - one from each month that features both of us - and set it to some jamming music.  Hope you like it - click the image or here to launch the video.
