Zoo Time and 6 Months Old Photoshoot

On Sunday, I turned 6 months old!  This is the oldest I have ever been.  Dad says I'm half way to a year old, but I don't know what that means.  I like being six months old, I get to do cool things.  I went to the zoo for the 1/2 year birthday.  It was really cool, there were big hairy animals that smelled bad (Dad called them other parents).  Plus, there were monkeys, apes, lions, pandas, prarie dogs, and all sorts of other animals.  Unlike my rainforest jumperoo, you do not get to play with the animals at the zoo.

Here we are at the lion cage, I'm looking at those cool green things called grasses (never seen those before - I was born in the winter)

After the zoo, we came home and took some photos.  I was tired of being outside.  But, Dad insisted that we take photos outside.  I smiled once, so he would take me in.

Finally, Mom and Dad brought me inside.  I was back to my smiley self again.  I love to smile, it's my favorite.

Wow, February Was Busy (Too bad it is almost April)

It was not until I was making my Dad put captions on my February picture album that I realized how busy I was last month.  And how low of a priority I am in to my Dad (Editor's Note: Phin's comment is false; he made me type that sentence).  In February:
  • I started to sit like a puppy, culminating in a full fledged unassisted real sit
  • Learned to stand just holding on to the table, couch, or mom's arm
  • Fed myself from a bottle (in front of company, nonetheless)
  • Needed an outfit change after letting go of a bottle and spilling everywhere while insisting that I feed myself from a bottle
  • Turned five months old - now I'm a week shy of 6 months
  • Outgrew my Yoda costume (at least the hood) - no more silly photos
  • Had my first kiss - she's an older woman, nearly 1 year old
  • Played with my first lego man, and
  • Finally beat the dang sock monkey in a wrestling match.
You can check out highlights of these exciting moments and more in my February Picture Album.

Peace Out,

Lightly Steamed Carrots and Cucumbers...Mmm...

Today was a big day.  I had my first real food.  No mushy baby food for me.  I eat what Mom and Dad eat.  Well, I will eventually eat what they eat.  Now, I just play with it to get used to the textures and favors.  When I am ready, I will start to eat the food (maybe when I have teeth, maybe earlier).  Once I start eating (and not just playing), I'll still drink most of calories.  But then I'll move to nothing but food - when I'm ready.  No one'll pressure me with mushy stuff on a spoon.

Below is a mashup (no pun intended) of my first forray with real food - lightly steamed carrots and cucumbers.  I did gum down some of the cucumber insides.  Dad said there were flakes of steamed carrots all over the place too.

Later in the day, I gummed some apple slices with Mom, Grandma H (via skype), and Dad (taking photo).  As you can see in the photo, mom is holding one of the slices, while I put another in my mouth.  Grandma did not have any apples.  I tried to put some in the CD drive and email it to her.  But, it never arrived.  Dang Gmail.
Tomorrow Mom and I are going to the grocery store.  We're going to get some new foods for me to play with.  Looking forward to trying broccoli; Dad loves it.  I'll let you know what I think.

Peace Out,
Phin
